For many years, NECA was the only western toy company that produced consistently high quality figures at a reasonable retail price. For my own custom figure projects, it was a combination of the franchises NECA worked with and the quality of their PVC and articulation joint engineering that stood out. For almost a decade before retail price creep took over, NECA converted me to working almost exclusively with their figures as composite bases to work with.

After posting some of my work at the great site Toy New International, I wound up as TNI's "Cool Custom" for 2013.01.06: "This week's TNI Cool Custom is of Hellblazer: John Constantine figure. The custom was by Blayne."

It's great to be showcased by Toy New International, where I've wound up as TNI's "Cool Custom" of the week on different occasions.

• TNI's "Cool Custom" for 2013.03.03: This week's TNI Cool Custom is of a Transformers Classics version of Goldbug. The custom was byBlayne. 

• TNI's "Cool Custom" for 2013.07.07: This week's TNI Cool Custom is of a Predator of Antioch (First Crusade, 1098) figure. This custom was done by Blayne.

New Figures and an Upcoming Toy Show

I've just booked two tables at the 80s Toy & Action Figure Expo, being hosted in Brampton, Ontario on April 3rd, 2011. If you're in the area, be sure to stop by!


As for new custom figures, first up is a series of "Horror Lanterns": Horror movie icons, merged into the Green Lantern 'Darkest Night'/'War of Light' saga. Predator, powered by Fear, Ash from Army of Darkness powered by Willpower, and Jason Voorhees powered by Rage.

Coming soon are Orange Lantern Leatherface, and Indigo Lantern Michael Myers, along with a new version of Freddy.

Also I have posted an older figure that somehow escaped the gallery, and two Vampire Slayers: Blade and Angel.

I'll be returning to teach English in South Korea in April, but will continue to work on custom action figures and commissions like I did last year.
